Two of my favorite blogger friends, Kiley and Alison, both tagged me in their Five Facts posts recently so I’m giving it a go and sharing some things you might not have known about me!  I’m also tagging five fashionable ladies I got to connect with during my recent travels in Tennessee and California, so Katie, Brittany, Jess, Brittany and Dani, tag, you’re it.

1) I don’t like cake.  I know, call me crazy, but I’ve never been a fan of the sweet treat.  Since I was a kid birthday cakes have been replaced by brownies, cookies and the occasional cheesecake, people assume I’m dieting when I turn it down at parties, or look at me as if I said something completely absurd like puppies aren’t cute.  I don’t really know what it is about cake that I don’t like, maybe it’s a texture thing, however, I may have met the first cupcake that won me over during our most recent trip to California.  It turns out Sprinkles Cupcakes are just as irresistible as the hype suggests; at least the red velvet one I gave a try.  It’s very strange to find myself suddenly craving the frosted, decadent treat, so it’s probably best that it’s at a safe distance, 3,000 miles away.

2) I love to cook, I find it incredibly soothing (unless I’m baking in a time crunch), but I never follow a recipe.  I’ll find one that sounds perfect only to veer off from it early on.  Surprisingly, my creations usually turn out pretty tasty.  I’m a big fan of bold flavors and spice though, so if I cook for you, you should probably come prepared for a kick of heat.  Bonus fact: I love spicy food so much that the bf and I have a small hot sauce collection; we’ve begun picking up new bottles to try whenever we travel.

3) The bf and I both quit our respective jobs a few years back when he decided he wanted to start his own business.  Together we started working to build CreativeKindle, LLC, a creative services company that focuses on design and marketing needs for small businesses and individuals.  I’m so excited to see where it takes us down the road, but so far it’s been a pretty amazing experience.

4) I love reading, but I don’t just read books, I devour them.  I can’t read to relax and fall asleep, instead, if I’m not careful I’ll end up staying up all night finishing a book rather than sleeping, a habit that has only been made worse now that I can download books on my tablet and phone.  Fiction, non-fiction, it doesn’t matter I enjoy it all, but currently I’m reading Brain on Fire, and after two days I’m already nearly finished so I’d love your recommendations for my next read.

5) You’ll find me in heels so often because the bf is a foot and three inches taller than me.  Most pictures of us together when I’m not in heels, you’ll notice I’m standing on my tiptoes.  Also, when I’m not in heels he has trouble hearing me; we can probably blame that on him being a musician and years in a band and being a bit too close to loud speakers.  Needless to say, my love of heels has come to have a practical purpose.
